Village groups page usage information and conditions
In providing a resource for everyone we hope you will understand that conditions of use are required to maintain a sustainable and inclusive website amenity, and we hereby attach our conditions of use, which must be reviewed and adhered to by all groups operating pages on this site:
Village groups and information webpages use policy
Here we include the conditions of use for bodies using the ‘Village groups’ and ‘Village information’ on the website.
- How do I create a page?
Please contact us at CroftonPCwebcreation@gmail.com and we will send you the necessary paperwork to complete and return. Once we have the paperwork and the information necessary we will then create a designated page on the website and confirm and inform you of the location.
- Is there a cost for creating a page?
There is no cost for you to create a page. We do however require you to follow our conditions as detailed herein.
- Does the council provide advertising services?
No, we do not. This site is supported by the annual precept and not advertising revenue. In including a page on our site, the main aim is to disseminate information for the benefit of residents who may want to engage with you. We understand that a by-product of this is advertisement for what you do but this is not an official service we are seeking to provide.
- Does the council create a full website for me?
No, we do not. All we provide is one page where key information can be displayed. We do not have the capacity or facilities on our site to create a full website for you. We understand however that a page alone may not be sufficient for your needs. If you do require a website to be created we can direct you to appropriate resources. Please note the page is not meant to be a substitute to, but instead an addition for, groups that need a website to display all relevant information and functionalities. For these groups the page is essentially a ‘landing page’ which can be used to direct users to more detailed information on their website.
- Will you take control of my website?
No, we will absolutely not do this and we do not bear any responsibility for external sites in general. You will retain control of your website and can treat your page as another channel of communication to direct users to your site.
- Who is responsible for keeping the information on my page up-to-date?
You are. The council takes no responsibility for any errors or omissions of information on your page, which must be accurate in order to retain access to this service.
- Can I amend information included at a later stage?
Yes, you can and in fact you should do this to keep information up-to-date as per the previous condition. Please consult the user guide as to how to amend information you have included.
- Are there any restrictions on how I can amend the information on my page?
Yes, there are. You must not infringe any current or future law or regulation in adding content, including intellectual property law such as copyright. Where groups interact with young children you must be mindful of the photos and details you include. You should not include any vile, malicious or derogatory information, comments or photos.
You will also notice there is a set template for each page. This is to maintain uniformity in line with the main aim of informing residents of services and not being an advertising stall. As a condition of using this site you cannot deviate from this template.
- Can I amend/edit my page myself?
No, unfortunately not at present. There is only one level of administrative edit which will be held at Council level. Please consult the guide as to how you can inform the Council of amendments you would like to make.
- What sort of information should we publish on our page?
A short guide is provided for you when you create a page as to what can be included. We will also request certain information from you, which is broadly required of all users. You should seek to provide information that is essential for residents to engage with you from an informed foundation.
- I am not technologically savvy but want to adapt my page. Who can I contact?
The pages are designed to be simple and easy-to-use but we do understand that users may have differing levels of computer literacy skills. If you need assistance in amending your page please contact us at CroftonPCwebcreation@gmail.com and we will look to help you out. The council does not warrant that it holds all expertise and you may need to seek help from a third party in certain situations.
- Can I include links to my social media pages?
Yes, absolutely. We have created space in the template for you to do this.
- How is the personal data created on my page processed and managed?
Please note that when you create a page we will send you paperwork in connection with your initial permission.
- Who owns the intellectual property rights for my page?
You do. The council will not seek to own such content created on its site. We do however retain copyright over the template.
- I believe another user is infringing these conditions – what can I do?
Please notify us at CroftonPCwebcreation@gmail.com and we will review this in line with our policies, taking appropriate action where this is required.
- ‘’I think there is space for a new group in doing X’’
One of the intentions in consolidating and updating information on village groups is to show where there are gaps (where there is a need for a new village group or to extend the activities of an existing group) and we have created a Facebook forum here where like-minded individuals can communicate about this need. Please note whilst CPC is providing this forum it does not have the capacity to be involved in the group creation process.
- I think that the site has things missing in general – can I make suggestions?
Yes, certainly. You can submit feedback here. We appreciate your feedback and where this is received we will carefully review it. However, by doing so we do not commit to carrying out the improvements so requested, as we must consider the effect on all groups and the extent of our resources.
